Velvet tufted sectional sofa bench today. It isn't really super easy, but it is beautiful and I have some tips for you guys that make it easier and it's something that you're gonna want because you would otherwise spend a lot of money on something like this in a store. It's very luxurious, and you know what feels really good on your, but a tufted bench that we're gonna make with buttons covered in velvet. It's so cool, alright I'll, stop blabbing and get into it. Okay, so for this, you're gonna need a lot of stuff, I'm of course gonna walk you through every single supply, as I'm using it alright. So this is a big piece of wood, you're making a bench, so you need something to sit on.
So this is pretty essential. We had some leftover plywood around the office, so we actually cut two pieces because it was too thin to use just one piece and we screwed them together, and then we also did a support piece on the bottom. That is more complicated than what you have to do. You could just go to the hardware store and find a nice thick board and then have them cut it to the exact size that you want your bench. This obviously isn't super long, but you could make a super long or wider bench alright, so we don't want to sit on a hard board.
Do we-we want some nice foam, so you want a piece of thick foam cut to the size of your board. You can get this at the fabric, store or upholstery stores, and you can just cut it with a craft night. We're gonna cover it up with some batting, so this basically just covers up those hard corners of the phone. This is pegboard. What's so nice about using this is this is basically your guide for the holes that you're going to drill and then put your buttons through and all that which can be really tedious? If you have to measure it, but you don't have to measure it when you have a pegboard, you won't actually use this on the finished bench, but this will be really really helpful during the making of. So that's all the big stuff. And, of course, you need your table legs, I'm using these hairpin legs.
You need your buttons, you need your fabric, you need a whole slew of stuff, but I will get into all of it. As I am. Let me work my butt, so I can set my butt. So I have my board here on the table and now I am placing the pegboard on top of it and I'm using this straight edge to line up in the corner because I'm going to need to repeat this process with the foam later. So you want to just make sure that you're, nice and lined up - I have this paper here that just shows rectangles. Let's say this is the bench and it really depends on the look that you want. You could do a grid of toughs, which are just all lined up for a diamond pattern.
You need to have the center line be longer, so it's going to have one two, three four five six holes and then the two outer rows are going to have five holes that are going to end up in the middle of those six. That's just sort of the visualization of what I then have to do in larger form. The next step is finding the center of your bench because I want the center diamond to go around the center point. I'm not actually going to put a button in there. So I'm just going to do this, but I'm going to know that that is my center hole and I don't want to have my first button to close to the edge.
