I'm going to show you how I up cycle it and made it look a lot nicer without spending a lot of money or a lot of time. The things you'll need for this. You can find in pretty much in your home where to store you're going to need some chick pillows, a king-sized sheet, a throw blanket, and some nice cushions start off with our couch, isn't very comfortable to sit on and that's kind of the whole point of a couch. So, to make it a wee bit more comfortable, I took those two cheap pillows and stuffed them underneath the bottom cushions just to make it a bit nicer to sit on. The next thing I wanted to do was cover up the fading fabric of the couch because that was my main issue with it.
Really it just did not look very good at all. Actual couch covers that are made to fit properly, can be surprisingly expensive, so I've had a cheaper way to do it. Instead, I'm using this black king-sized sheet and draping it over the couch tuck it in at the back front and around the sides and try and get it sitting as flat as possible, and then what I'm doing is putting a couple of small stitches around the arm of the couch with a fabric light bulbs together so that it doesn't track around and it stays in place. The sheet isn't quite big enough to cover the sides of my couch, and if that bothers you, then you could always sort panel on the side.
But I'm going for a low-maintenance up cycle job here I don't really mind the gaps, though, because this side of the couch isn't really seeing much and I'm just going to drape a throw blanket over the other side to cover that up a bit for a finishing touch. I'm popping two cushions on the couch, which are much nicer than the ones that will need to start with and give the room a bit of color and personality and there's a finished couch, looking much better than how it did originally.
If I do say so myself, the sheet draped over the couch is never going to look quite as good as an actual couch cover, but just remember that you've saved a lot of money by doing this, so I guess it depends on what your priorities are. If you've got an old couch in your flat that you don't really like, I definitely recommend you give this a go. It's a great way to up cycle a piece of furniture without having to throw it out and get a new one. It can be quite fun to up cycle things and find little ways to add your personal touch to them, and the best part about this up cycling job is that I can take all the pieces with me to our new flat when we move and I'm pretty sure they'll be a gross or cash there that I don't like as well, so I can just do the same thing to that one.
